Bren School Ranked #1 in the Nation for Environmental Sustainability

The Bren School of Environmental Science & Management is ranked #1 in the nation for "Environmental Sustainability" in Business as UNusual: The Student Guide to Graduate Programs 2014, published by Net Impact. The publication has come out annually since 2006. The Bren School "sustainability rating" placed it at #2 in the nation in 2013.

The Bren School received a score of 4.90 on a scale of 5 based on a variety of criteria.

"Business as UNusual is the only publication for students, by students that ranks and highlights graduate schools at the forefront of social and environmental innovation, featuring over 3,300 student perspectives on nearly 100 graduate programs," according to a Net Impact press release. "The guide provides student ratings of their graduate program’s integration of social and environmental themes into curricula, career services, and student activities."

Net Impact is a community of more than 50,000 student and professional leaders working to create positive social and environmental change in the workplace and the world. The organization provides jobs and internship leads, offers webinars on a range of topics, and sponsors conferences and events, such as business competitions. The vast majority of students are enrolled in business schools, but the Bren School's Eco-Entrepreneurship focus and its specialization in Corporate Environmental Management make Net Impact a meaningful avenue of participation for many Bren students.

The Bren School chapter of Net Impact holds meetings and events throughout the year, including the qualifying round for the annual Walmart Better Living Business Challenge competition.
