In a Jan. 23 op-ed piece for the Energy Central web site, Tam Hunt, a visiting lecturer at the Bren School, and the Energy Program Director and Attorney for the Community Environmental Council in Santa Barbara, addresses the various causes of fluctuating oil prices. In the article, titled "The Magically Deflating Oil Price: Is is all about speculation?", Hunt references a recent 60 Minutes segment in addressing various factors — specifically, rising and falling world supply and demand — that he sees as much more important factors in the recent fluctuation of oil prices.
