Career Development and Alumni Relations Program Manager

Monica Illes is the Career Development and Alumni Relations Program Manager for the Bren School. In this role, Monica manages career document review services; provides resume, CV, and cover letter advising; and co-leads career writing-related workshops. Monica also creates and oversees various career and alumni communications materials and leads content creation and design for the student-alumni networking and career resources platform, BrenConnect.

Prior to joining the Bren School in February 2015, Monica gained student advising, writing, and communications experience as a writing tutor at UCSB’s Campus Learning Assistance Services (CLAS) and as a writing intern in UCSB’s Office of Public Affairs and Communications. Monica also developed program leadership experience through roles leading art and journalism at a summer day camp.

Monica contributes skills in business writing, marketing writing, editing, and graphic design to her advising and communications work at the Bren School, having earned a BA in English and a minor in professional writing (multimedia communication emphasis) with high honors from UCSB. A longtime runner, Monica enjoys appreciating beautiful Santa Barbara County by foot, including participating in local races.
