It is the policy of the University of California, Santa Barbara and the UC Santa Barbara Foundation that a
modest portion of gifts and/or the income from gifts may be used to defray the costs of raising and
administering funds; currently this portion is set at 2%.
By planned giving (estate gifts)
To ensure that the school will always have the resources it needs, we encourage you to consider extending your generosity beyond your lifetime by naming The UC Santa Barbara Foundation in your will for the benefit of the Bren School.
We can also discuss with you planned giving strategies, such as trusts and charitable gift annuities, which allow you to improve your financial situation and make a gift to the Bren School.

Annual Gifts to our Fund for Excellence
Financial resources strategically targeted to meet a critical need can have a transformative impact on the life of the Bren School. Annual contributions to our Fund for Excellence are used by the dean wherever the need is greatest. Gifts to the Fund for Excellence make possible everything from the acquisition of new hardware and software for the school, to student, faculty, program, and facility support. Endowment gifts to the Fund for Excellence can, with presidential approval, enable us to permanently associate a donor's name with selected spaces in Bren Hall.
Endowed gifts may be pledged over as many as five years, and donors may select from a range of naming opportunities.
Capital Gifts
The Bren School is housed in Bren Hall, the greenest laboratory building in the United States. Support for our laboratories, teaching and research spaces, and outdoor areas is essential to our maintaining our position as a leading-edge center of teaching and research in the area of Environmental Science & Management.
Donors who contribute endowment gifts to the Bren School to enhance and maintain this word-class publicly funded facility can, with presidential approval, permanently associate their names with spaces in Bren Hall.
