Bio
Amanda graduated from Cal State University Dominguez Hills (2017) with her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology. Undergrad coursework in the natural sciences and her experience as a cross country and track coach lead her to become a science teacher. She earned her teaching credential at Cal State University Long Beach (CSULB) in foundational and biological sciences in 2019. Amanda taught life and physical sciences to middle and high school students for 6 years in Los Angeles and San Diego counties. Her discussions and hands-on labs with students kindled her passion to work in the field of scientific research.
Amanda’s aspiration to work in the environmental field ignited further as a conservation ambassador at the San Diego Zoo in 2019. There she learned about scientific research furthering species survival and the zoo’s commitment to zero waste initiatives. These experiences led her to Bren, where her goals are to study climate and ecosystem interaction and pollutant mitigation while diving into hands-on approaches to solving problems.
