Assistant Professor
Anna Papp is an Assistant Professor at the Bren School of Environmental Science & Management at the University of California, Santa Barbara. She is an environmental economist whose work spans applied microeconomics and interdisciplinary research on climate change, climate adaptation, and plastic pollution. Much of her research draws on remote sensing and non-traditional data sources to study environmental questions at scale. Her current projects include measuring the local climate and economic effects of afforestation, mapping open waste sites around the world, and understanding how consumers and workers adapt to extreme heat through digital platforms.
Anna was previously a postdoctoral scholar at MIT in the Department of Economics and the Schwarzman College of Computing's Social and Ethical Responsibilities of Computing program. She received her PhD in Sustainable Development from Columbia University's School of International and Public Affairs and holds a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering from Harvard University.
