Bio
Shannon Maher graduated cum laude from the University of Connecticut (2025), receiving a B.S. in Environmental Science with a concentration in global change and minors in Statistics, Ornamental Horticulture, and Ecology & Evolutionary Biology. While pursuing her undergraduate degree, Shannon worked under Dr. Chris Elphick on a research initiative called EntoGEM. As part of the project, she reviewed academic literature and organized data with the goal of mapping global insect decline and locating areas of literature deficiencies. At Bren, she plans to specialize in Business and Sustainability with an innovation focus. Having a background in both retail and food industries, Shannon has firsthand experience with massive amounts of waste businesses produce. She hopes to work with companies to implement cradle-to-cradle design and reduce waste at a commercial level. Outside of academics, Shannon enjoys logging insects in iNaturalist, dancing like somebody is watching, and tending to her vast collection of houseplants.
