Bio
Alua is an engineer and sustainability professional with a passion for creating solutions that bridge technology, policy, and social impact. She earned her M.Sc. in Thermal Engineering from L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University, and complemented her training with additional studies at Czech University of Life Sciences and Tomsk Polytechnic University. Early in her career, Alua focused on reducing nitrogen oxide emissions and designing innovative burner devices, work that resulted in peer-reviewed publications and a granted patent. Alua’s professional journey spans engineering, standardization, and business analysis. As Chief Standardization and Design Engineer at STIA company, she led projects to improve industrial processes and integrate sustainable practices. Through these experiences, Alua became increasingly aware of the urgent need to implement sustainable solutions at scale. She has since turned her focus toward bio-based materials, circular economy strategies, and life-cycle assessments that can inform global sustainability initiatives. At UCSB’s Bren School, she is pursuing a Master of Environmental Science & Management (MESM), aiming to combine her technical expertise with strategic and policy-driven approaches. Alua aspires to contribute to international organizations, where she can develop and implement sustainable projects that advance climate resilience, circular economies, and equitable resource management. She is particularly motivated to support initiatives that empower communities, promote sustainable supply chains, and address environmental challenges in emerging economies.
