Bio
Andre completed a B.S. in Biology and Biochemistry at Calvin University in 2022. During his undergraduate studies, he studied the ecology of ticks and tick-borne disease in Michigan as well as the invertebrate ecology of a river in Michigan following dam removal and river restoration. He spent the following year working as a middle school biology teacher in Hungary before completing an M.S. in biology at UNC Greensboro, where he studied the phylogeography of the western water shrew in the western United States. Andre is supported by an NSF GRFP and hopes to draw on his diverse research background to understand how the ecology of vector-borne disease is changing under anthropogenic pressures such as climate change and land-use change.
