Bio
Andrea Cornelius graduated from California State University, San Marcos in 2017 with a degree in Environmental Studies. During her undergraduate career, she became passionate about environmental education through her work with two nature conservancies. As an intern with The Escondido Creek Conservancy, Andrea curated an exhibit called Sounds of the Watershed, an audio-visual representation of the life in and around the creek. With Nature Collective, she monitored and restored lagoon trails and served as an outdoor educator for students from low-income families. Following graduation, Andrea gained experience in the public sector as an environmental sustainability intern for the City of Del Mar, CA, lobbying for state environmental legislation and implementing the Climate Action Plan through waste management education. Through these experiences, Andrea has learned the importance of creatively engaging people of all ages and backgrounds in environmental recreation, issues, and actions, and aims to invite more diversity to the movement. At Bren, Andrea is inspired to specialize in Energy and Climate with a focus in Communication.
