Ava Robillard graduated magna cum laude from Cornell University with a Bachelor of Science in Plant Sciences and a minor in Data Science. While at Cornell, she concentrated in computational biology and conducted research focused on the phylogenetics of perennial species of Glycine, wild relatives of the soybean, using a range of bioinformatics tools. She also gained a love for GIS and remote sensing through an internship with the National Science Foundation (NSF), where she worked on developing a severity index of urban heat islands based on vegetation indices.
Now pursuing a Master of Environmental Data Science at the Bren School of Environmental Science & Management, Ava aims to apply her interdisciplinary background in plant and data sciences to broader sustainability challenges, particularly those related to plant conservation and resource use. She is especially interested in the intersection of the fashion industry and regenerative agriculture, and how data can be used to make the clothing lifecycle more environmentally sound.
