Chase Tarr graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 2021 with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Studies and a focus in Ecology, Evolution, and Marine Biology. During his undergraduate career, Chase held project engineering internships in the water infrastructure industry while studying the effects of human interaction on marine and freshwater ecosystems. During his time in these positions, he worked with species scientists and engineers to develop the most sustainable and safe construction processes. Throughout his undergraduate studies, Chase also competed as a Division I track and field athlete for the University of California, Santa Barbara for 4 years and will continue to throw the javelin during his time at the Bren School. He plans to study Water Resources Management, pursuing a career focused upon the water crises in the Western United States. Eventually, he strives to develop a technology that would allow reclaimed water to be converted back into potable water and reused multiple times. He hopes to work in a developing country upon graduating to bring freshwater systems to underprivileged communities developing a permanent presence for the future in regions of need.
