Bio
Emma Rasmussen graduated from the University of Oregon with a Bachelors of Science in Environmental Science and minors in Spanish and Biology (2019). She earned honors defending her thesis in the department of Evolutionary Biology and Ecology. Fascinated by trash, Emma applied her scientific background to the waste management industry.
As a Sustainability Coordinator for GreenWaste Recovery, Emma managed carbon emissions reporting and internal sustainability goals. Emma advanced to Sustainability and Communications Analyst, where she implemented regulations such as California Senate Bill 1383. Working hands-on with systemic design in waste reduction fueled her curiosity for the policies that shape innovation in business. Emma went on to pursue her personal goals of Spanish language development and cultural immersion in Spain, where she worked as an English language teaching assistant for two years.
At Bren, Emma is focused on translating science into decision making to create equitable change. Emma aspires to apply her specializations in Business and Sustainability and Environmental Policy to develop creative strategies that support a circular economy.
