Bio
Emma Sayre graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 2025 with a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies and Geography with an emphasis in Geographic Information Systems (GIS). As an undergraduate, she gained a variety of work experience including backcountry fieldwork in Yosemite National Park, an independent research project on algae in the Devereux Slough, and an energy and utilities consulting internship with West Monroe in Los Angeles. During her senior year, she worked for the City of Santa Barbara Parks and Recreation Department as a GIS Intern, where she led the implementation of a new asset management software to streamline park maintenance processes.
Her experience working across various fields, combined with her comprehensive coursework in environmental impact analysis, has inspired her to further explore environmental policy and planning and the role of GIS to inform decision-making during her graduate studies. Outside of academics, she enjoys surfing, backpacking, and visiting local parks and open spaces.
