Bio
Fabian Gomez earned his Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science & Policy with minors in Biology and Economics from California State University, Long Beach, graduating with honors in 2024. During his undergraduate years, he combined research with advocacy, creating a GIS project that exposed how redlining shaped environmental inequities in Long Beach and later leading data analysis for a Central Valley capstone study that revealed widespread nitrate and arsenic contamination in groundwater. He also contributed to experimental research at the RadKem Lab, where he used Electron Pulse Radiolysis to study the degradation of plastics and sunscreens in aquatic systems, revealing how pollutants persist and transform.
Motivated to connect science with solutions, Fabian joined the Moore Institute for Plastic Pollution Research, where he developed open-source tools that improved how regulators and scientists share and apply data. He later brought this integrative approach to the City of Beverly Hills, directing the development and accreditation of its first in-house drinking water laboratory, which reduced costs, improved compliance, and advanced climate goals by cutting emissions from outsourced testing.
Now a master’s student at UCSB’s Bren School specializing in Business and Sustainability, Fabian is set on redefining sustainability as market leadership, where clean energy adoption and climate strategy are the drivers of growth, not side projects.
