Bio
Hylaea Miller graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science from the University of Brasília (UnB). During her undergraduate studies, she received a grant from the Institutional Scientific Initiation Scholarships Program (PIBIC), to use Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Remote Sensing to analyze the accuracy and precision of satellite rainfall data in Central Brazil. She also completed two internships, one at the Federal District´s Research and Statistics Institute (IPE-DF), and another at the Chico Mendes Institute for Biodiversity Conservation (ICMBio), where she assisted the geoprocessing team of the Planalto Central Environmental Protected Area. At ICMBio, she later obtained a temporary position as an Environmental Agent, working with environmental licensing and GIS. While at Bren School, Hylaea is pursuing a master’s degree in Environmental Data Science, enabling her to specialize in data analysis and programming.
