MESM 2024
Bio
For as long as he can remember, Isaiah has been interested in learning about the environment and its impact on communities. Being raised in Puerto Rico, he experienced many environmental disasters, specifically hurricanes that caused extensive damage, water shortages, and power outages. At this young age, Isaiah recognized how a beautiful island full of natural resources could be devastated by nature. His experience living in Puerto Rico led to a desire to help those most impacted by climate change. Isaiah completed his undergraduate degree from UC Santa Barbara in 2020 with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Studies while earning an outstanding academic achievement award. During his time at UCSB, Isaiah was selected to research the impacts of tourism on socio-ecological sustainability in Chile. While interacting and collaborating with various locals during his time in Chile, his passion for helping others was reaffirmed. Eager to increase his knowledge on how he can continue to help those in need and minimize the adverse effects of climate change, Isaiah decided to continue his education and pursue a degree at Bren specializing in energy and climate.
