Bio
Jackson Hayes graduated from University Of California, Santa Barbara in 2019 with a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies. While completing his undergraduate studies, Jackson began working in sustainable agriculture, leading a community garden project on the Santa Barbara City College campus and co-founding an agave farm in the Santa Monica Mountains. After graduation, Jackson worked in forestry and habitat restoration for Treepeople and the US Forest Service, completing projects in California, Montana, Utah and Idaho. During this work, Jackson developed an interest in a forest’s role in the carbon cycle and opportunity as a carbon sequestration tool. Jackson is a passionate advocate for nature-based solutions in decarbonization, and plans to work on frameworks that provide funding to conservation projects through carbon offsets.
