Bio
Javier Patrón is an energetic and passionate advocate for the environment. His experience as a mechanical and electrical engineer at General Electric for 5 years and as team headman of a racing sailboat that crossed the Pacific in 2021 helped him become a leader. In 2021, Javier volunteered for a coral restoration project in Fiji and he now collaborates actively with the Center for Marine Biodiversity & Conservation at UCSD. He began his Masters of Environmental Data Science at the Bren School UCSB to generate data-driven solutions to protect our currently fragile environment.

His vision as an Environmental Data Scientist is to empower high-end technology companies to enrich their monitoring practices on big data to obtain feasible and convincing results while fostering positive environmental impact. His main focus is on natural climate solutions, carbon offset, and MPA restoration and conservation. 

During his free time, Javier goes outdoors and takes advantage of the ocean’s free energy like the waves and wind to sail and surf.
