Bio
John “Jack” Miller graduated cum laude from the University of California, Los Angeles in 2020 with a Bachelor of Art in Geography/Environmental Studies and a minor in Conservation Biology. He became interested in sustainability while watching Global Dumping Ground, a documentary that reveals the United States dumping E-waste on Pacific Islands. The film’s environmental racism examples inspired him to focus on building more resilient waste management systems. At UCLA, Jack served as a Zero Waste Ambassador, a position that allowed him to teach his peers about personal waste management. After graduation, he founded and served as president of Greening the Greeks at UCLA, a student organization that aims to strengthen sustainability in Greek Life by educating Greek members about sustainable living and supporting Greek communities in their sustainability efforts. In his free time, he enjoys creating content for his TikTok and Instagram accounts (@mr.resourceprotection) to make sustainable living tips more accessible. At Bren, Jack will pursue the Corporate Environmental Management specialization and the Eco-Entrepreneurship focus. He aspires to lead teams working on Zero Waste, specifically consulting groups in the food manufacturing sector. Jack intends to contribute to the development of new metrics to assess food manufacturing sustainability and help businesses turn their trash into treasure.
