Bio
Joshua graduated Summa Cum Laude from The Ohio State University with a degree in Education. Growing up in strained circumstances, he became a self-taught mechanic and second person in his family to earn a high school diploma. Joshua pursued a teaching career thanks to the help of a passionate community who motivated him to break the cycle of generational poverty. He went on to become the first person in his family with a college degree and taught math and science in the same community he called home. While helping others will always be an important part of his life, Joshua decided to change direction after he witnessed many environmental disasters, including the train derailment in East Palestine, that left poverty-stricken communities devastated and without help. His experiences have led him to pursue a degree in environmental data science. At Bren, Joshua has many interests including conservation, restoration, environmental justice, and energy. He passionately believes the road to an equitable environmental future is going to be through collaboration and transparency.
