Bio
Juliahna Wang received her B.S. in Mathematical and Scientific Computation with a Minor in Philosophy (2022) from UC Davis. During her degree, she interned with the UC Riverside Science to Policy Group, where she collaborated with policymakers, professors, and PhD students on the acquisition of land and conservation planning for the Prescott Preserve. Given the opportunity to work at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Juliahna moved abroad to work in the Center for Bilingual Studies. Here, she published two papers, examining human-AI communication and memory. She additionally developed the initial stages of a brain age regression model, programming a convolutional neural network (CNN) to process MRI scans and predict brain age. Still excited about conservation, she interned at the Coal Oil Point Reserve at UCSB, a restoration project which served as a blueprint for the Prescott Preserve. She gained field experience, learning about conservation strategies, surveying and monitoring the Western Snowy Plover populations. Juliahna is now pursuing her Master’s in Environmental Science and Management, where she hopes to integrate her interest in restoration and conservation planning with her mathematics and research experience.
