Karol Paya

Bio
Karol Paya is an Environmental Engineer with an Honors Bachelor's degree specializing in Water Resources from the University of Waterloo, Canada (2017). She is currently pursuing a Master's degree in Environmental Data Science at the Bren School, University of California, Santa Barbara.

Karol has over nine years of industry experience and a proven track record in leading technical teams in the design and implementation of data analytics and optimization solutions.
In her most recent work, Karol served as a Lead Industry Consultant at Autodesk, where she delivered AI and machine learning models to optimize water and wastewater treatment systems.
Prior to her role at Autodesk, she spent two years in the UK working for a consultant, developing and expanding hydraulic models for cities and towns across Scotland. Her work involved using Esri and Innovyze software products.

A passionate advocate for advancing knowledge in the water field, Karol has co-authored academic papers and articles, she has presented a technical session titled "Emerging AI Technologies and Ways of Working to Optimize Water" at the 2023 Water Environment Federation's Technical Exhibition and Conference.
Her core mission lies in leveraging technology to address environmental challenges and drive sustainable solutions.
