Bio
Kyle Alves is resolved to actualize a more inclusive and sustainable future building skills at Bren from his intersectional foundations of data analysis, community planning, and climate resilience. He graduated cum laude from University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) in 2021 with a degree in Environmental Science and minor in Environmental Systems and Society. His undergraduate research worked across innovative fields, from administration of zero waste best practices to life cycle assessment of a lab-grown beef substitute. For Kyle's capstone, he partnered with the National Resources Defence Council investigating the potential for the California Cap and Trade program to disproportionately impact air quality of disadvantaged communities.
Meanwhile, he cultivated a profound passion for climate resilience at UCLA. His first professional position acted as a convener of climate resilience professionals for disseminating novel resilience practices within the Los Angeles region. This dedication continued within his role at the University of California (UC) Office of the President, helping administrate sustainability initiatives across the UC system including the integration of environmental justice in campus planning. Before joining Bren, Kyle was involved for two years in private consulting assessing potential for hazardous and petroleum products to impact human and environmental health.
