Bio
Lauren grew up along the Mokelumne River in the San Francisco Bay-Delta Estuary, an experience that inspired her interest in water resources and the communities that depend on them. She graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science, concentrating in Natural Resource Management.

Lauren gained hands-on experience as a Planning Intern with San Joaquin Council of Governments. She developed skills in translating technical data into accessible infographics. She participated in transportation planning projects focused on reducing air pollution by encouraging ridesharing and clean commuting options through the agency’s dibs program.

At Restore the Delta (RTD), Lauren served as a Climate Water Advocate, where she conducted water quality testing for harmful algal blooms (HABs) at sites along the San Joaquin River. She monitored sites near disadvantaged communities to highlight the impact of HABs and supported efforts to protect underserved populations. She also tracked stream gauge levels across Northern California to ensure accurate hydrological data reporting. Lauren also gained experience in policy, advocacy, and community outreach. She collaborated with RTD staff to ensure community and tribal concerns were addressed in Delta water management decisions. She canvassed underserved neighborhoods in unincorporated areas, met with legislative representatives at the California State Capitol, and engaged Delta residents at community-based events to discuss the health and the future of their waterways. Based on Lauren’s water advocacy experience, she plans to specialize in water resources management to address the challenges of water scarcity and climate change impacts in drought-prone regions.
