Lauren Manzo

Bio
Lauren Manzo graduated from Academy of Art University in 2013 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in drawing and painting. After completing her undergraduate degree, Lauren worked at Jeffrey Berkus Architects where she was involved in the design and production of a hurricane-proof, LEED-certified hotel in Corpus Christi, Texas. While at the architect firm, she contributed to the development of the Earth’s Call Foundation as an advisory committee member. Lauren has utilized her artistic training by leading drawing classes for adults through Santa Barbara City College, and for at-risk youth through the Camp Think program. In addition to her artistic projects, Lauren has a strong passion for marine life and conservation. She volunteers at the Channel Islands Marine and Wildlife Institute, rehabilitating seals and sea lions. She also supports the Channel Islands Restoration organization by working on native habitat restoration. Through her volunteer work, Lauren has become deeply compelled to pursue a career in ocean conservation to protect the delicate coastal marine environment from harmful human impacts. Lauren will be specializing in both Conservation Planning and Coastal Marine Resource Management. In doing so, she will gain the skills necessary to foster ethical and sustainable relationships between humans and this delicate ecosystem. Lauren intends to combine her artistic perspective, her passion for the ocean, and her Bren education in order to make a unique contribution to conservation.
