Career Development and Alumni Relations Program Manager

Monica serves as the Career Development and Alumni Relations Program Manager and has been with the Bren School for 11+ years. As a career advisor and program manager, she provides individual career advising to students and alumni, leads career workshops, and manages various alumni and student communications. Her role includes content and design management for BrenConnect, Bren’s online career resources and networking platform. Monica received a 2019-2020 UCSB Staff Citation of Excellence Award for her contributions to the Bren School.
Monica’s past roles reflect a blend of education, communication, and creative endeavors. In addition to her work at the Bren School, Monica’s experience includes tutoring writing at UCSB’s Campus Learning Assistance Services (CLAS), interning in UCSB’s Office of Public Affairs and Communications, and leading art and journalism at a summer day camp.
Monica earned her BA in English and a minor in Professional Writing (multimedia communication emphasis) from the University of California, Santa Barbara, where she graduated Phi Beta Kappa and with high honors. She brings invaluable skills in business and marketing writing, graphic design, and program management to her work at Bren.
In her free time, Monica enjoys soaking in the outdoors while running, as well as spending quality time with family and friends. A Santa Barbara County native, she is grateful to live near both the Pacific Ocean and mountains and has many childhood memories enjoying California’s natural beauty on family camping trips, including excursions to Lake Tahoe, the Big Sur area, McArthur-Burney Falls Memorial State Park, and our own Los Padres National Forest.
