Bio
Morgan Plummer graduated from California State University Channel Islands in 2022 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Environmental Science and Resource Management with an emphasis in Earth Systems. She first discovered her passion for the environment during her early undergraduate career at Santa Barbara City College after taking several field study courses examining the Sierra Nevada mountain range. Inspired by the region, Morgan began carving her path toward studying environmental science. During her time at Channel Islands, she was a research assistant under the NSF HSI-STEM program where she conducted research for the Beach Sustainability Assessment - Comprehensive Analysis for Management Project. Morgan also completed undergraduate research examining beach attendance surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, and how coastal visitation patterns influenced beach accessibility and amenities. Eager to gain additional knowledge, Morgan traveled to New Orleans, Louisiana as a Service Learning Student Researcher. In New Orleans, she assisted in data collection documenting native and invasive flora distribution impacted by hurricane activity, established a food garden for locals in need, and restored local properties damaged by recent hurricanes. Morgan is pursuing a Master’s degree in Environmental Science and Management at UCSB’s Bren School with a specialization in Conservation Planning. Her goal is to broaden her education and apply her skills through work in wildlife conservation, land management, and environmental policy.
