Bio
Having lived in multiple states and abroad, Naomi Moraes has appreciated the global interconnectivity of local environmental issues and solutions, from an early age. Her interest in mitigating climate change impacts led her to pursue a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Environmental Studies at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
Upon graduation, Naomi was accepted as an SEI Funding and Finance Fellow, working with Silicon Valley Clean Energy to research financing models for building and transportation electrification projects, particularly for marginalized customer segments. Following her fellowship, Naomi was an assistant consultant with Steer, a transportation consulting firm. There she developed a high-speed/ high-frequency rail OPEX model, utilized Python scripts to conduct quality assurance and control for Link21 (a Californian regional rail program), and conducted community outreach for the MTC Richmond-San Rafael Bridge E-Bike Commute Program.
Naomi Moraes is currently enrolled in the Master of Environmental Data Science program, through the Bren School of Environmental Science and Management, at the University of California, Santa Barbara. She hopes to further the development of equitable sustainability solutions through data analysis and communication.
