Bio
Nils Boberg graduated from California State University Channel Islands in May 2025 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. For the latter half of his undergraduate career, he worked in a research laboratory on campus where he explored the life history, ecology, and stress responses of the California mussel across various projects. During the summers of 2024 and 2025, Nils participated in the CSUCI Summer SURF program – eight-week intensive research fellowships that funded group research in bioinformatic analyses and growth physiology. Throughout his time in the lab, he was fortunate to travel to Santa Rosa Island to conduct fieldwork in the rocky intertidal, gathering data on species assemblage changes over time. From his very first trip, he fell in love with the Northern Channel Islands and decided to stay in the area to continue in marine science. At Bren, he hopes to complete a Coastal Resources Management specialization, learning more about the policy and management practices necessary to protect unique ecosystems like those of the Channel Islands.
