Bio
Stella Wing graduated from the University of California, Berkeley in 2024 earning a B.S. in Conservation and Resource Studies. Intrigued by the applicability of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) in environmental problem solving, Stella used geospatial datasets in her undergraduate honors thesis in order to investigate agricultural land use change in California’s Central Valley during recent drought years. Through the use of precipitation, groundwater level, and land coverage data, she researched the land use decisions that farmers make during years of water scarcity. Stella additionally worked with Blue Tomorrow, an environmental consulting firm in Santa Barbara, as a GIS intern where she was tasked with generating data visualization in ArcGIS for a breadth of multidisciplinary projects. Through these experiences, Stella learned the profound importance of scientific communication, as well as the importance of an interdisciplinary knowledge base in effective problem solving.

With an interest in climate change mitigation, Stella hopes to learn more about quantifying, and incentivizing the reduction of, greenhouse gas emissions at the corporate level through the Business and Sustainability specialization at Bren.
