Something About Me

“This project allowed me to get my hands dirty working with real, meaningful qualitative data and interact with the local community to create positive change. The connections and mentorship I received through this fellowship helped me establish important foundations that will be pivotal as I begin my career.”

Alexa is a fourth-year student double majoring in Statistics and Data Science and Environmental Studies at UC Santa Barbara. She is interested in pursuing a career that merges these disciplines and pertains to sustainability and development. This year, Alexa will be a fellow for the Bren-Environmental Studies Program. Alexa is currently a Mantell Fellow where she is working with CAUSE to research climate resilience in Santa Paula. This research project aims to understand the effects of extreme climate on the local community and how to create a successful resilience center in Santa Paula. Growing up in Sacramento, Alexa understands the harmful effects extreme heat can cause and as such, she is looking forward to supporting Santa Paula and working on a project that aims to combat these effects.
