Presentation Skills for Environmental Professionals
This course is an introduction to public speaking skills for environmental professionals. Students learn how to give a professional talk for a conference or public presentation considering story framework, visual aids, audience, tone, and Q&A. Students practice these skills through individual and group active learning exercises. Students are introduced to examples of effective environmental public speaking ranging from podcasts to TED talks. Students complete class assignments before weekly labs, where they practice speaking in front of peers and receive constructive feedback. Students give a three-minute condensed version of their final presentation and submit two revised lab assignments as part of their public speaking portfolio.
