Bio
Amanda Overbye graduated cum laude from Belmont University in 2022 with a BS in Environmental Science. After graduating, she spent her time working as a wildlife technician and as an environmental educator. As a wildlife technician, Amanda delighted in interacting with different species and collecting accurate data about them. As an educator, she enjoyed finding unique games and activities to convey key ecological concepts to students. While working in these two contexts, she developed an interest in the connection between gathering data and sharing the results with the public.
Through the MEDS program, Amanda hopes to develop a connection between these two processes. She is especially drawn to data processing and visualization. Her research interests are the long-term impacts of climate change and human development on terrestrial mammalian movement and migration. Amanda's goal is to do responsible scientific research that is accessible and understandable to a broad range of audiences.
