My name is Amritpal Sandhu, and I am pursuing a Master of Environmental Data Science degree at the UCSB Bren School of Environmental Science & Management in California. I aspire to gain a deeper understanding of the approaches used to solve advanced environmental challenges. Growing up in a small city with substandard air quality negatively impacted my asthma which further sparked a strong interest in the field of environmental justice. I earned my bachelor’s in Environmental Science and Management with a specialization in Air Quality and Climate Change from the University of California Davis. I work for the California Air Resources Board as an Air Resources Technician II in the Off-Road Implementation Section where our goal is to eliminate the highest polluting equipment in California and transition to zero-emission technology. I have a passion for puzzles and solving complex problems which has led me into the field of data science. My goal is to remediate and prevent inequities in communities that are disproportionately impacted by using my data science skills and applying them to air quality related issues.
