Bio
Ana Martinez's work, supported by the Eugene Cota-Robles Fellowship, lies at the intersection of environmental justice and policy. She is interested in exploring how equity can be better integrated into the disaster management cycle by centering community expertise and self-determination. Before joining the Bren School, Ana was a Pre-Doctoral Research Fellow at Harvard University's Salata Institute for Climate and Sustainability and Institute for Quantitative Social Science (IQSS). As a fellow, Ana investigated the environmental justice implications of permitting and siting large infrastructure projects and co-led a project to preserve disappeared federal data during the 2025 presidential transition. Ana earned a B.S. in Sociology with minors in Economics and Sustainability from Santa Clara University. Her undergraduate research focused on climate risk and perception, adaptive capacity, and disability-inclusive disaster risk reduction.
