MESM 2021
Bio
Andrew Salvador studied for three years at Bates College in Lewiston, Maine, before transferring and graduating from the University of Oregon in 2017 with a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies and Spanish. After graduating, Andrew served for two years in the Peace Corps as an environmental educator in rural Mexico. In this role, he educated the small community he lived in about global and local environmental issues through classes, workshops, and presentations. He also helped the community reduce waste by teaching them how to reutilize materials, and implemented recycling programs in several schools. Building on his previous experiences, Andrew is specializing in Energy and Climate and Corporate Environmental Management at the Bren School. He wants to build more sustainable cities and to help businesses reduce their environmental impact. He hopes to do this by studying methods of reducing emissions, waste, and energy consumption, researching renewable energy and energy production, and learning about more efficient building and transportation designs. He also hopes to study business practices that balance both business demands and environmental impact, as well as societal needs.
