Something About Me

I am a third year Environmental Studies BA student at UCSB, where I’m focused on exploring corporate sustainability and ethical consumption on a commercial scale. When I arrived at UCSB, I was overwhelmed by the number of people who seemed to know exactly what they wanted to be when they “grew up.”  However, rather than allow myself to be intimidated by that perception, I decided to try classes from different departments in hopes of finding my passion. I distinctly remember how I felt during my first Environmental Studies class; For the first time in college, I felt like embracing this journey would offer me the tools and experience I needed to truly make a substantial impact on the world around me, so I immediately joined the Program. Since being admitted to the major a year ago, I have made it my mission to explore a broad range of environmental work both inside and outside of the University. Some of my proudest accomplishments to-date have included; participating in a research team, led by UCSB professor Jen Martin, which explored injustices committed towards Indigenous Americans; interning at the Santa Barbara County Green Business program, where I participate in local outreach and manage professional documents, and, most recently, garnering a summer position as a corporate sustainability intern at Intel Corporation. Outside of my professional life, I enjoy reading in coffee shops, hanging out with friends, and upcycling clothes. After graduating, I plan to pursue a career in ethical consumption on a corporate scale, focusing on decarbonization strategies.
