Bio
With an interdisciplinary background in economics research, statistical programming, and adventure filmmaking, Ben Moscona is excited to find solutions for rapid decarbonization at the nexus of land-use, food systems, and renewable energy. Growing up surrounded by the mountains, forests, and deserts of Colorado, he was inspired at a young age to care deeply about this planet.
Before finishing his undergraduate degree, Ben produced films and photography for outdoor companies, and directed two short environmental documentaries with international film festival showings. He is also a Creative Alliance Member at the climate-advocacy focused nonprofit, Protect Our Winters, where he directly lobbies politicians for climate action and contributes to voter outreach efforts.
After graduating from Montana State University in 2020 with a B.S. in Economics, he continued working as a research assistant on the economics of foreign agricultural land ownership in the United States. His work in land-use economics awakened his passion for spatial data analysis and econometrics. After completing his Master’s degree at Bren, Ben aims to create tools and research that aid policymakers and private companies in the transition to a cleaner global economy.
