Bio
Betty Cheong graduated from Gettysburg College in 2017 with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Studies. She has over five years of experience in data analysis, greenhouse gas (GHG) calculations, and environmental, social and governance (ESG) reporting.
Betty started her career in environmental education, teaching elementary school students in her hometown of San Francisco. Working with the next generation of climate leaders inspired her to take on the challenge of reaching an even wider audience to ensure a sustainable future for herself, her community, and those to come. This idea led her to the San Francisco Department of Environment, where she provided sustainability guidance to small and medium-sized businesses in the city’s Green Business Program. Her experience working with businesses made her acutely aware of the impact that companies have in regard to climate change mitigation. With that in mind, she joined CDP, an international non-profit where she supported multinational companies in compiling their climate-related disclosures and setting emission reduction targets. After CDP, she transitioned to a career in consulting, where she has conducted materiality assessments, GHG inventories, and led ESG software implementations.
At the Bren School, she is hoping to specialize in Corporate Environmental Management. Her goal after the completion of the program is to work in the consumer goods or apparel industry to facilitate sustainable supply chains.
