Caroline Edmonds graduated from the University of Hawai’i at Manoa in 2023 with an Honors. While there, she received a B.S. in Marine Biology with a minor in Geography. Prior to her undergraduate career, Caroline volunteered for 9 years at the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach, CA. There she developed a love for the ocean and a passion for conservation. During her time at the UHM, Caroline was a NOAA Hollings Scholar and worked on multiple oceanic projects. She worked with NOAA's Office of Habitat Conservation with work pertaining to deep sea research. Deep-sea corals piqued her interest and ended up being the topic of her honors thesis. Following graduation, Caroline worked for Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute focusing her work on the seasonality of deep-sea corals and associated fauna. Caroline’s continued interest in the deep sea has inspired her to specialize in Coastal Management and Conservation Planning at UCSB Bren. She hopes to develop preservation plans to protect critical deep-sea habitats and continue pursuing her love of oceanic research.
