Bio
After a lifetime of loving the California coast, Claire attended the UC Santa Barbara College of Creative Studies, where she majored in biology. As an undergraduate, Claire worked at the Reef, the campus aquarium, and conducted research on temperature and heart physiology in local salt marsh fish for the Eliason Lab. Claire graduated in 2022 and became a lab technician at the Exploratorium science museum in her hometown of San Francisco. In her time working on the waterfront of the San Francisco Bay, Claire witnessed the effects that extreme weather and sea level rise are already having on urban infrastructure. These observations, along with her role on the museum's sustainability committee, inspired her to pursue environmental management. She hopes that her time at Bren will deepen her understanding of water policy in California and help her to develop strategies for adaptive management in the face of climate change.
