Bio
Claire's educational background and professional goals focus on the intersection between people and the environment. She grew up in the redwoods of Kings Mountain, California, an unincorporated region in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Her family later moved to Half Moon Bay, a small coastal town centered around agriculture, fishing, and tourism. Living in these communities sparked her passion to explore society's relationship with the environment. Claire graduated with honors from the University of California, Davis in 2023. She earned a B.S. in Community and Regional Development with minors in Communication and Environmental Policy Analysis & Planning. At UC Davis, she researched various topics including sea level rise and coastal erosion, green space accessibility and environmental justice, urban heat islands, the polluter-industrial complex, and CEQA regulations. While taking classes, Claire acted as the Water Conservation Intern for the City of Woodland; in a time of drought, she analyzed water usage and informed residents about leak repair and water conservation strategies. She also recently worked as a Visitor Service Aid for the Half Moon Bay State Beaches, where she learned about maintaining nature as a public resource. At Bren and beyond, Claire will approach environmental issues through policy, planning, sustainable business strategies, and environmental communication.
