MESM 2026

Bio
Elijah is multifaceted, and has many interests in the environmental field. His priority is Conservation Planning, but he's also interested in sustainable development and environmental advocacy/education. Elijah graduated from UC San Diego in 2022 with a Bachelors of Science in Environmental Systems (Ecology, Behavior, Evolution). As an undergrad, he interned with the UCSD Natural Reserve System at Kendall-Frost Marsh Reserve. While there, he partnered with the UCSD NRS on two independent projects focused on habitat restoration. He also worked in the Costa Lab at Scripps Institute of Oceanography processing soil samples for blue carbon analysis (carbon sequestration and storage).

After graduation, he joined the Conservation Team at San Diego Bird Alliance (SDBA). At SDBA, he maintained native plants, performed vegetation monitoring, and did public outreach at sites across San Diego County. He currently works as a research associate for Redwood Energy, a sustainable construction start-up, where he's learned about edible landscaping and building electrification.

While at Bren, Elijah hopes to deepen his understanding of the principles of ecosystem management, and wishes to continue his work in habitat restoration and conservation. There are many avenues Elijah can explore through the MESM program, and he welcomes any and all of them.
