Elise Dauterive graduated from the University of California, Santa Cruz in 2022 with a Bachelors of Science in Plant Sciences. During her undergraduate career, she completed three internships working with native California plant conservation, and two internships in fashion production and marketing. During these internship experiences, Elise studied abroad in Milan, Italy to begin her journey in merging her two passions of environmental conservation and fashion.
After graduation, Elise worked with the California Department of Fish and Wildlife in the Native Plant Program, where she worked alongside Botanists and Ecologists to protect and conserve native California endangered plant species. At Bren, Elise is specializing in Business and Sustainability and Pollution Prevention & Remediation. Fashion has always been Elise's principal form of self expression, and she hopes to reduce the large contribution the industry has on waste production. She believes that sustainable fashion practices and environmental conservation are interconnected. By adopting sustainable methods, the fashion industry can significantly reduce its ecological footprint, protect natural resources, and contribute to a healthier planet. Her ultimate goal is to become a leader in sustainability teams with major clothing brands.
