Bio
Emmalyn Norman is an adaptable individual with an affinity for conservation and environmental justice. Born and raised in Southern California, she earned her Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science from San Diego State University (SDSU) and graduated in 2023.
During her undergraduate career, she led her colleagues towards more sustainable lifestyle choices through her position as the Zero-Waste Commissioner for the Greenlove Student Association. Emmalyn worked with a human ecology professor on her senior research project analyzing rainfall and temperature data in Northern Tanzania to help understand how climate change affects pastoral communities. This motivated her to volunteer in Tanzania and Kenya post-graduation, where she gained experience working in an animal clinic and taught English and math to kindergarteners.
At the Bren School, Emmalyn's goal is to dive deeper into climate injustices and climate policy on the local and global scale, with an emphasis on addressing climate change adaptations in the Global South. Emmalyn feels incredibly grateful and excited to work with a group of like-minded environmentalists at Bren, and seeks to reduce environmental impacts to underrepresented communities in an ever-changing world.
