Bren-Environmental Studies Fellow Academic Year 2023-24
Something About Me
A New York City native and self-proclaimed “Climate Fanatic,” Finn is a fourth-year Environmental Studies B.S. student with a focus on Climate & Energy. At the 2021 TEDx event in Palo Alto, CA, he gave a talk titled “Spiritual Surfing, The Story of a Raindrop, and Protecting the Pacific.” A radical surfer-environmentalist at heart, Finn told the story of how his love for surfing and the ocean led him on a quest to solve toxic urban runoff that he experienced in the waters of Santa Cruz.
This past summer, Finn worked at True Ventures as a member of their Fellowship Program, training as a ClimateTech investment analyst and taking an operations role at one of their bioplastics portfolio companies, Intropic Materials. In addition to working in venture capital, he’s worked for California State Senator Josh Becker on environmental policy and separately for Blue Forest Conservation, a finance organization purpose-built to create a new class of investment asset centered on forest resilience, wildfire prevention, and terrestrial conservation. Finn has also interned for companies in renewable energy, carbon sequestration, electric vehicles, and green architecture. Through his various internships, jobs, and start-ups, Finn has grown into the role of a versed operator in the sustainability industry, developing skills in business development, product management, and research. Finn hopes to build a career in sustainable business and climate tech investing focusing on renewables & bioplastics.
