Bio
Fletcher is currently pursuing a Master of Environmental Data Science (MEDS) at the University of California, Santa Barbara Bren School of Environmental Science & Management. He spent much of his childhood traveling on the ocean, where he amassed a broad skill set and interest in the marine environment. While working towards a Bachelors of Science in Environmental Studies from UCSB, he collaborated with NOAA to publish several official reports. This included research on west coast lobster pot entanglements and the 2016 Vessel Speed Reduction Program. After graduating in 2018, he further delved into the marine sector by working with the Navy Marine Mammal Program in San Diego, where he was able to apply his waterman and data collection skills while participating in research on the Atlantic Bottlenose Dolphin. With his master’s degree, he intends to apply data science for developing strategies to predict and mitigate climate change impacts on the oceans and surrounding regions.
