MESM 2021
Bio
Garrett Eyer graduated from the University of Virginia in 2016 with a degree in economics. Since graduation, Garrett’s career has taken him a few different places. Having an interest in policy, Garrett started out working at a Department of Defense (DoD) lobbying firm in Washington, DC. Following this, he worked as an analyst at Navy Federal Credit Union in their real-estate lending department. After building up the courage to chase his childhood dream, Garrett left banking to pursue his interest in wildlife conservation. This lead him to take an internship at NOAA and National Marine Sanctuaries as a Constituent and Legislative Affairs Intern. In the spring of 2019, Garrett began an opportunity as a Marine Protected Areas Intern at WILDCOAST, an environmental nonprofit based in San Diego. Garrett comes to Bren hoping to build a strong foundation in environmental science. Specializing in economics and policy of the environment, Garrett hopes to develop common-sense solutions based on scientific evidence. He believes that environmental progress begins at the intersection of industry and environmentalism and he hopes to assist in developing non-partisan solutions in that capacity.
