Bio
Hannah Garcia-Wickstrum graduated UC Davis in 2014 with a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences with an emphasis in Ecology, Evolution, and Biodiversity. After graduating, Hannah worked for both federal and non-profit organizations throughout California, including the National Park Service, the Santa Barbara Botanic Garden, and the U.S. Forest Service. Her time with these organizations proved invaluable as it sparked her passion for botany and habitat conservation. Most recently, Hannah worked for the Santa Clara River Conservancy (SCRC) managing the removal of invasive plants and monitoring riparian restoration. As the Program Manager, she worked closely with partners at California Trout, Inc. to remove over 35 acres of giant reed (Arundo donax) from the Santa Clara River floodplain. Working with SCRC inspired her on what achievements can be made when stakeholders collaborate on important ecological improvements. While at Bren, she plans on specializing in Conservation Planning so that she can better understand how to manage ecological systems and the policies set in place to protect them.
